Aotea's Mānuka Honey is sourced sustainably from their hives on Aotea (Great Barrier Island). Only small quantities are taken so there is enough honey left for the bees to thrive over winter. As the island is covered in Tea Tree, their Mānuka Honey is free from other blends. With a certified MGO (Methylglyoxal) rating of 125+ this honey is an anti-microbial warrior. MGO stands for Methylglyoxal which is the organic compound responsible for Manuka honey's strong antibacterial properties.
Directions:
Manuka honey can be taken as medicine and added to tea, mixed with turmeric and lemon to soothe a sore throat or added to hot chocolate for a deluxe treat. It's delicious eaten straight off the spoon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and can be mixed with apple cider vinegar as a tonic or used to make an oxymel with fresh garden herbs.
We love using honey as a face mask and it can be applied topically to burns after the burn has been cooled for at least 10 minutes under running water.
