Flower Essences Explained: Benefits, Uses, and How to Harness Their Healing Power
Understanding Flower Essences: What They Are and How to Use Them
Flower essences are natural remedies derived from specific flowers, primarily used in holistic healing. Developed by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s, these essences are created through a gentle infusion process whereby flowers are rested in water and exposed to sunlight first thing in the morning. This process extracts the flower's vibrational essence, preserving its energetic properties. The resulting liquid is then diluted with brandy to create the “mother essence."
Flower essences address mental and emotional well-being before any imbalances manifest into the physical body. Each flower is associated with particular emotional and mental states, helping to promote balance and healing. Common flower essences include:
Rescue Remedy: A blend of multiple flower essences, known for its calming effects during stressful situations.
Cherry Plum: Used for addressing fear of losing control or emotional outbursts.
Mimulus: Helpful for fears and phobias and used to assist in promoting courage.
Flower essences are safe for animals, children and alongside medication and are therefore helpful to use on a daily basis.
If your children have nightmares you can get a special blend to help settle, soothe and promote a restful sleep.

How to Use Flower Essences
1. Directly Taken: Take a few drops (typically 4-5) of the essence directly under the tongue or mixed in a small glass of water.
2. Topically: Some people apply flower essences to pulse points (wrists, temples) or areas of the body where they feel tension or discomfort, adding them to lotions or oils.
5. Room Spray: Dilute flower essences in water and use a spray bottle to create a calming environment in your home.
