Born at a kitchen table in Aotearoa, Absolute Essential began in 1988 when Dr Bo Hendgen, a naturopath, osteopath and aromatic medicine practitioner who had trained in France, found she could not source essential oils of the quality her clinical practice required. So she began sourcing her own, and from that necessity something enduring grew.
The brand works exclusively within the four percent of the world's essential oils made to genuine medicinal standards, drawing on certified organic and wild-grown plant extracts from small artisan communities across 59 countries. Slower distillation and extraction methods are used throughout, preserving the delicate therapeutic compounds that give each oil its real potency.
