Mangawhai Honey's Native Bush Honey is an everyday honey carefully crafted from a coastal bush region, drawn from hives kept across Louis Smith's Mangawhai property, a business founded on quality and care since 2015.

Louis's family have lived in Mangawhai since 1947, when his grandfather purchased a large block of land, and the family continues to live there today in this special corner of the world.

Minimal hives are kept on each mānuka block, giving the bees plenty of space to thrive, and each spring Louis plants mānuka, kānuka, harakeke and tī kouka to support the wider ecosystem. All honey is sold in glass jars, a further step in the sustainable journey.

As a raw, unpasteurised, multifloral honey, it retains the natural enzymes, antioxidants and trace minerals that processing typically strips away, along with a broader, more layered flavour shaped by the coastal bush flora it is drawn from. Directions

Take by the spoonful, stir through tea, turmeric and lemon, or hot chocolate, or mix with apple cider vinegar as a tonic. Also delicious eaten straight from the spoon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, or used to make an oxymel with fresh garden herbs.
