MONNI Art Print Mt Tamahunga

This artwork, Mt Tamahunga, is drawn by hand using an old fashioned ink tip and Indian ink by Monique Jansen. She spends months carefully creating each piece, capturing the look, light and feel of the land and interweaving a story within every line.

Tamahunga is the local maunga, long believed to be a place of refuge and safe passage. Rising above the Mahurangi coastline as the tallest peak in the area, its ridge shelters some of the oldest untouched forest left in the region. It remains a favourite climb for locals, Monique included, who enjoy the shade of its dense, lively forest especially through the warmer months.
