Tea ceremony with Amber
A tea ceremony for one - letting the silence steep into all the spaces we usually fill
Recently when I sat for tea, I felt the warmth of her running into the places that were hurt, carefully tucked away and furled into tight fronds.
I felt places in my body that had been coiled for a long time. Like watching a jasmine flower bloom in warm water, edges of myself begin to soften and be tended to by medicine the tea carried and the long line of hands that had quietly bought her to me.
I had forgotten how powerful a tea ceremony can be - in a circle or alone. So often when we sit quietly we are meet with our ruminating thoughts but with tea, it links us into the wider circle of life - and reminds us of the magic field beyond mind, body and limitations.
When I sat with this tea I was warmed again. I felt safe enough with her presence to feel a little hope and joy after a long difficult transition. There was a comfort in the silence, a holding which meant I could lean in to some of the darker edges I had traversed and take another look.
When you have tea, in an old mug, in your pyjamas or in a circle, on a rainy day or outdoors on an adventure I encourage you to let yourself just be, with no expectation, hope or reasoning. So often we are on the way to the next thing, seeking the next layer of healing or anticipating what life is asking of us.
With tea, let yourself receive. There are offerings all around you - from the wild mint growing outside, to the parsley and rosemary in your garden patch. You can make ceremony with what you have and where you are. All you are required to do is sit and listen.
With love,
Amber.
