Collection: MONNI Art

As a Māori artist, Monni's connection to the land runs deep—the whenua is not just the landscape, but an inseparable part of identity. It holds stories, ancestry, and wellbeing, guided by the principle of kaitiakitanga—a deep responsibility to protect and care for the natural world. In honour of this, she began creating her own pigments from sustainably foraged plants—colours born of the land itself. Monni now works primarily with these natural pigments and Indian ink, developing a contemporary style that reflects the textures and tones of nature. Each artwork is an offering, a quiet reminder that beauty can be part of the earth’s healing.
